  1. How do I obtain a lost user name or password?

    Your user name is the e-mail address you used to sign up with eLayaway. You can retrieve your password by clicking on the “Forgot Password” link under the login box on the eLayaway homepage.

  2. Is there a limit to how many purchases I can make?

    No, but eLayaway encourages our members to be responsible while using the eLayaway system.

  3. Can I access my payment and purchase information?

    You can view and manage all of your account information online 24-7. Simply login at eLayaway.com using the e-mail address and password you created during registration.

  4. How do I change my personal information?

    You can change your personal information online. Simply, login to your account at eLayaway.com using your e-mail address and password you created during registration, then click on "My Account" and then "Edit My Profile."

  5. Do I need to be registered as a member of eLayaway to shop with one of your merchants?

    Yes. You need to be an eLayaway member before you can use the eLayaway system. Click here to register now.

  6. Do I have to remember to make my eLayaway payments?

    No. Your payments are automatically deducted from your bank account on the payment schedule you selected.

  7. How often can I make my eLayaway payments?

    Once per month.

  8. What happens if my bank account does not have sufficient funds to make the payment?

    After the original payment is declined, your account will be placed on hold. You will then have 7 days to bring your account up to date. After that, your account will be “In Default,” and you will be sent back the money you have paid minus a cancelation fee of $25.

  10. Is there a fee for canceling my account?

    No. There is not a fee for canceling your standard eLayaway membership account.

  11. Are shipping and taxes included in the layaway amount?

    Yes. For your convenience we include the shipping and taxes into your purchase price.

  12. How do I cancel my eLayaway membership account?

    To cancel your eLayaway account, please call us toll-free at 1.888.215.3999, and a representative will assist you.

  13. Is there a fee associated with canceling a transaction?

    Yes. When a transaction is canceled, eLayaway charges consumers either $25 or 10% of the price of the item placed on layaway; whichever is less. The remaining balance is returned to the consumer's bank account.

  14. What happens if my payments don't go through?

    If your account has more than one consecutive unsuccessful payment, your order will be canceled according to our cancellation policy. (See above)

  15. Are there any fees associated with returned payments?

    Yes. There is a $5 charge per unsuccessful payment.

  18. Does it cost money to become an eLayaway member?

    The eLayaway membership is free. However, if you would like to upgrade to the elayaway Advantage membership, it costs $8.95 per month. Click here to learn more about the benefits of eLayaway Advantage.

  19. How does eLayaway work?

    eLayaway is an automated payment system that utilizes ACH (Automated Clearing House) technology provided by HSBC Bank. After selecting a product and payment schedule, your payments are automatically deducted from your bank account until the purchase is complete. Once the purchase is complete, your product is shipped to your doorstep.

  20. What is ACH?

    ACH (Automated Clearing House) technology is an electronic system used to facilitate the transfer of funds between banking institutions. eLayaway utilizes ACH to automatically debit layaway payments directly from your bank account.

  21. Do I have to obtain credit approval to use eLayaway?

    No. eLayaway does not accept credit payments, so a credit check is unnecessary.

  22. Do I need a bank account to use eLayaway?

    Yes, a bank account with a bank routing number is required to make purchases with the eLayaway system.

  23. What is the most expensive item that can be bought using eLayaway?

    The pricing and products offered are all determined by our participating merchants. The eLayaway system alone does not have a price limit.

  24. How do I make a purchase?

    Shop our Merchant Directory and eLayaway Mall to find the products you want most. Click the “eLayaway Now” button next to the product of your choice, select your payment schedule, and click “confirm” to start your layaway.

  25. What merchants offer eLayaway?

    View our complete listing of participating merchants in our Merchant Directory from the eLayaway homepage. eLayaway is actively working with the largest merchants in the country to expand its growing merchant network.

  26. How much does it cost to use eLayaway?

    eLayaway only charges a one time transaction fee of 1.9% on the layaway total with a minimum fee of $2.00. That’s only $1.90 for every $100 spent.

  27. Is my money secure with eLayaway?

    We understand how important it is for your money to be secure. So to give our customers the most security possible we have partnered with HSBC to keep your money safe. HSBC is an FDIC insured bank with over two trillion dollars in assets.

  28. What is the maximum amount of payments I can make?

    Participating eLayaway merchants can set their own guidelines regarding the length of payments. So within those guidelines you can set your payments however long you might want them.

  29. What fees are associated with eLayaway?

    The only fee associated with an eLayaway purchase is a 1.9% transaction fee that is charged to the consumer with a minimum fee of $2.00. There may also be cancellation fees that are explained in our “Cancellation Policies” section.

  30. Are there any hidden fees or costs?

    No, our fee schedule is clearly marked on our web site and inside of our policies.

  31. What is the difference between eLayaway and a credit account?

    A credit account requires qualification by the means of a credit check. Credit accounts also have limits and interest charges. eLayaway does not require a credit check, has no limit, and absolutely no interest.

  32. Can I use a credit card to pay for my eLayaway purchase?

    Fortunately no! eLayaway processes payments through a process called ACH. ACH is a secure method of electronically transferring funds from your bank’s account. It is as simple as paying with a check.

  33. Do I have to pay a security deposit to use eLayaway?

    eLayaway does not require a security deposit. However, some merchants in select industries may require a deposit to guarantee your purchase. This may include one of a kind items and travel related purchases.

  34. Is eLayaway responsible for the product quality and timely shipping?

    Product quality and timely shipping is dependent upon the merchant, not eLayaway.

  35. Can I change my payment information after I have initiated my purchase using eLayaway?

    Yes. However, all payment information changes must be made at least 48 hours prior to a scheduled payment date. Please Contact Us if you need to make any payment information changes within 48 hours of a scheduled payment.

  36. What currencies does eLayaway accept?

    At this time we only accept US dollars. Our relationship with HSBC will eventually allow us to accept international currencies as we grow.

  42. How can I be certain that eLayaway merchants are not fraudulent?

    We take all steps necessary to protect our consumers from fraudulent behavior. Our merchants will have to pass an application process and identity verification process. From there, they will enter into a legal contract with us. We have put procedures in place to make sure only legitimate retail stores are offering eLayaway.

  43. Is eLayaway Secure?

    Yes. eLayaway.com and the payment module that exists on our merchant web sites are secured by a 256-bit SSL Certificate. This certificate establishes an encrypted link between our secure server and your web browser. This ensures that all information passed to eLayaway remains private.

  44. How safe is your payment system compared to others that are available?

    We offer the highest level of security features you can find with any payment process provider. Also, the process of paying multiple payments before products are shipped is a deterrent for someone looking to commit identity fraud.

  45. Your system holds customer sensitive information. What measures are taken to ensure that is safe from hackers?

    Our system is monitored and scanned once a week by Control Scan's Verified Secure Vulnerability Scanning Service to ensure that our system is secure.
